The Bear River Page

Bear River is known as the Little Switzerland of Nova Scotia. The village is known for it's crafts. It is also known for its fall colors.
Across the river, and the other side

The first picture is taken on the south side of the Bear River, close to the village of Bear River. The far bank of the river can be seen.

The next two pictures are on the side shown in the first shot. The dirt road follows the river for a few miles and finally peters out.

Depending on the date that you go to Bear River you will find different trees in color, while some are still green. By the time the green ones are in color the currently colored ones will have faded.

The second picture shows a paved road on the north east side of the river. The fallen leaves can be as beautiful as the ones on the trees as they create different designs.

The third picture shows that the colors do not have to be red or orange to be beautiful. This part of the road was covered with yellow trees forming an arch. At points the road was almost covered from side to side with the fallen leaves.

I think that dirt roads make the best fall shots, especially when there are no posts or lines in it, as in the first of these shots.

But then if the rest of the scene is right, paved roads can look pretty good too. Along this paved road is a farm where there are lamas, donkeys and other animals that are rare for this area.
