This is the front of the house in a partially modified state. At the top you can see the remnants of the vinal siding and the exposure of the old cedar plank siding. We guess the cedar was used to 'dress up' a shingle house. Shingles were pretty 'common' in the old days so having a board front would be considered an 'upgrade' in construction. |

This is the front of the house in mid-August after we got back from our trips. We used the cedar siding instead of shingles on the front to keep the house more 'in period' and 'style'. Over time the siding should 'gray' with the shingles to blend in color. |
