This fire department protects the people within the areas of Shag Harbour and Bear Point N.S. The property value of this district is approximately $23,388,600.00. We provide medical assistance as first responders, respond to fires, motor vehicle accidents, and disasters. The object of the department is ti save lives and lesson property damage in any way possible.
We are located in a rural setting and thereofre are equiped to handle anything from a minnor grass fire to a fully involved structure fire. We are alao equiped to handle anything else in between these.
Our members have training in First aid and CPR, and have taken courses in first response. Some members have completed course at the Nova Scotia Fire Fighters School in Waverly N.S. These courses include basic fire fighting, advanced breathing aparatus, advanced rescue, Haz mat, pumps and hydraulics, fire prevention, building construction, vehicle extrication, and Most are certified level one fire fighters.
When
we require more manpower or equipment we depend on a mutual aid agreement.
This agreement includes other nearby departments, which respond to
the call for help with whatever equipment we request.
