The Bavaria Restaurant was established in 1985 by Ludwig and Gerdi Wagner. Both are from Muhldort, Bavaria state in Germany. The restaurant is named after the statue of Bavaria located in Munich.
Gertraud and Ludwig moved to Nova Scotia in 1982. They purchased this property in 1985 as their home and opened the Bavaria Restaurant in December.
Ludwig began his cooking career with seven years service in the merchant marine followed by fifteen years in the restaurant and lounge business in Germany. Ludwig cuts all the meats, and prepares the main dishes, the soups and the sauces. Gerdi has been in the food business since 1973, and makes all the cakes, strudels, and the specialty desserts.
The present menu is similar to that followed by the Wagners in their restaurant business in Germany with authentic European and Germany cuisine. Imported beers and wines and German home-made desserts are a unique feature in this area.
Intimate meals for two, family dinners, banquets, group dinners, and weddings for up to 140 people are all available at the Bavaria.
We take great care in preparing the orders individually for each table and for this reason our service may take longer then you are accustomed to. We think that you will be pleased with the results of this extra care.
We will be delighted to have you with us, and hope that you will enjoy our food and our hospitality. Please enjoy a walk around our property, and our lake-side setting before or after your meal.

“The proof is in the eating”.

Guten Appetit....
Gerdi and Ludwig

The beautiful like-side view from the Bavaria Restaurant traces its beginning to Thirza Hilton ( Kelly) Flint, who had this building erected in 1922 as a summer home. The distinctive “four-square” style is intact, and the patterned tin ceilings are still in place.

The lake view expansion completed in 1990 follows the lines of the original verandahs and had created one of the areas finest views while preserving the summer home style from the 1920’s.

The extensively landscaped property is home to the many birds of the area, and fishermen can frequently be seen fishing for both trout and salmon. The gardens and trees are worthy of a leisurely stroll as part of your restaurant visit.
